Georgia Land Conservation Program

The Georgia Land Conservation Program (GLCP) is a partnership within state government that works to preserve a statewide network of forests, farms, parks and waterways for current and future generations of Georgians to use and enjoy. GLCP works with landowners, cities and counties, other government agencies, landowners, and conservation organizations to permanently protect the state's valuable natural infrastructure from development or degradation.

Georgians can help preserve of our state’s rich natural resources by donating to the Statewide Land Conservation Program on the Georgia Income Tax Form 500 (or 500-EZ). All funds donated to the Program are distributed on a competitive basis to land conservation projects throughout the state. Contributions are matched with dollars from landowners, cities, counties and non-profit organizations to permanently preserve sensitive tracts of land with high conservation value. The program has already protected over 30,000 acres with tax checkoff proceeds at roughly $10 per acre! That’s pretty good leverage and a great return on the taxpayer’s investment.
